The 2016 Honda Civic sedan earned the highest 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The 10th generation Civic received a top rating in the front, side, and rollover crash tests.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2016 Civic sedan with a top rating of “Good” in five IIHS crash test modes, including the rigorous small overlap frontal crash test.
In addition, the Japanese car received the highest rating of “Top Safety Pick+” from IIHS, including a “Superior” rating for frontal crash prevention thanks to the Honda Sensing safety and driver assist technologies.

Locally, the 10th generation Civic is available with dual front airbags, electronic parking with Auto Brake Hold, Vehicle Stability Control (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). The Civic RS variant ups the ante with side and curtain airbags.
