SOLAR Transport Automotive Corp. (STAR Corp.) has announced their entry into the local taxi industry through their partnership with World Transport. Soon, we would be able to ride in a BYD F3 taxi.
The taxi-ready BYD F3 comes with a slot for a taximeter, a roof-mounted TAXI signage, and a “For Hire” lamp.
The highlight of the F3 taxi is its cabin with sufficient head and elbow room for 5 people, including the driver. It also has Bosch 2-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Delphi Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), LED brake light, and a high-mounted LED third brake light.
“These are exciting times for STAR Corp. as we roll out our first taxi fleet in the Philippines. The BYD F3 is designed for the commuting public, who deserve more space and comfort. It is fuel efficient and represents real value for money,” said STAR Corp. Managing Director Mark Andrew Tieng.
Under the hood resides a Euro-4 compliant 1.5L 473QE engine with Variable Valve Lift (VVL) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR). A 5-speed MT also comes standard.
Taxi operators and drivers will benefit from BYD’s after-sales services. Repair, maintenance, and genuine spare parts are an easy reach via phone call, and all these gets coordinated via the fleet account manager.
With the deployment of the BYD F3 taxi, the industry favorites such as the Toyota Vios and Hyundai Accent will now have something to stir up their equally-matched playing field. A break from the usual is something we all need from time to time, right?
