Mazda Philippines unveiled its premium crossover—the CX-9—at the 2017 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
The all-new CX-9 features a longer hood, shorter overhangs, and a larger set of wheels (20-inches to be exact), giving it a sleeker look than the outgoing model. In addition, the overall silhouette of the vehicle bears Mazda’s KODO – Soul of Motion design language, which like all their models, make the CX-9 look fast even when stationary.
On paper, this crossover is shorter by 30 mm while its width and height remain the same as its predecessors. In addition, occupants will be able to ingress/egress easier thanks to its stretched wheelbase.
On the other hand, the CX-9 is powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.5L turbocharged engine mated to a 6-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE transmission. According to Mazda, this power unit can squeeze out 250 hp and 420 Nm of torque. Moreover, all power is transferred to the ground on all four wheels via the Japanese brand’s i-ACTIV AWD mode, which makes use of 22 sensors that helps the CX-9 adapt to road conditions.
Inside the CX-9, black leather seats add a touch of luxury in this premium crossover. Its 1st row come with a 10-way PowerSeat with lumbar support and memory for the driver while the front passenger gets a seat that can adjust in 6 directions. Furthermore, comfort is taken to another level with its electronic automatic temperature control.
On-board entertainment is provided by an 8-inch LCD touchscreen monitor routed to 12 BOSE speakers. Meanwhile, driver aids can be seen around the cockpit such as the steering wheel audio controls, Mazda’s Commander Control, MZD Connect, and the heads-up display (HUD).
As for its “standard” safety features, the CX-9 is loaded with 6 airbags, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, dynamic stability control, immobilizer, smart keyless entry, parking sensor, and reverse rear view camera. It also comes with advanced active safety features such as lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive LED headlamps.
The CX-9 is available in 1 variant—the CX-9 SkyActiv-Turbo Grand Touring. Interested buyers can get the CX-9 in Machine Gray for P2,780,000.
