The local crossover segment is about to get even more competitive as the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan debuted at the 2017 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). Featuring a larger body and a new exterior design, the Tiguan is set to take on its competition.
With that in mind, it seems that the 2nd generation Tiguan is determined to stand its ground against its rivals. The exterior of Volkswagen’s crossover comes with a more upmarket look, which we find better as compared to the outgoing model.
The Tiguan has a bolder and a more composed fascia thanks to the new blacked-out headlights, slimmer grille, and revamped bumper. The side of the all-new Tiguan now looks more German due to the sharper, straight character line. The rear, on the other hand, is integrated with an angular look as well as distinctive taillights, a tailgate-mounted spoiler, and a muscular bumper.
Inside, the Tiguan has a restyled dashboard layout. It has a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 3-zone automatic climate control. If we’re going to sum it up, the all-new Tiguan’s interior is simple and straightforward yet it has that premium feel.
In terms of safety, the all-new Tiguan is equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability program (ESP), airbags, ISOFIX, and more.
The local-spec Tiguan is powered by a 1.4L TSI engine with BlueMotion Technology that delivers 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed direct shift gear (DSG) automatic transmission.
