The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has implemented the ‘No Jeepney’ traffic management plan along EDSA-Guadalupe. This new scheme, which intends to decongest traffic, prohibits Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs) from passing through EDSA.
This means that PUJs will now have to pass through the inner streets instead of EDSA-Guadalupe going to Manila, Taguig, and Pateros. In a report by GMA news, PUJs coming from Magsaysay Avenue going to EDSA-Guadalupe should take P. Burgos St., then turn left to P. Victor St. onto Guadalupe Ilalim.
In accordance to the previous meeting between the MMDA and officials of Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo, the agency’s personnel from the Traffic Discipline Office, Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group, and Anti-illegal Parking Operations Unit conducted clearing operations in the inner streets (P. Burgos St. and P. Victor St.).
The clearing operations include sweeping street vendors as well as illegally parked vehicles. In case you’re wondering, the said area is near the Guadalupe Commercial Complex, which has a large number of street vendors in its vicinity.
The MMDA reported that 4 vehicles were towed while 2 truckloads of various items were confiscated from illegal street vendors during its clearing operations.
