Aside from advanced technology, Japan has been synonymous to bizarre things like outrageous pranks and hilarious game shows that set them apart from the world. Alas, a Hiace TRD concept debuted at the 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS), along with the snazzy CH-R.
Yes, the Toyota Hiace gets a TRD treatment.
With Toyota Racing Development’s (TRD) reputation of making Toyota cars look fast, it’s unimaginable how a boxy people carrier can be turned into a speed-thirsty machine – but they did. Well, at least that was the plan.
Without lowering the Hiace, TRD customized its front bumper with chrome details. Chrome-plated side mirrors are added, as well as side skirts, red mud flaps, 6-spoke TRD rims, and chrome exhaust pipe to complete the look.
The resulting Hiace doesn’t look bad at all. In fact, it would be interesting to see this “sporty” van roam the city streets. Or a UV Express perhaps?
