  Fuel economy is 4 stars only, but that is to be expected from the ample power generated by the turbo. Driving performance would be five star except for a lag in throttle response under certain conditions. Suspension is well tuned for both comfort and sportiness. Comfort is over all excellent, but the front seat is a bit short for me. Style and looks are really good. Interior features for the Philippine version is ample but lacking quite a few features available in US and Aussie versions. I do not like getting short changed. I am willing to pay for what I like. Interior space is spot on for my requirements.

  2 minor complaints with the unit: - the apple carplay may occasionally disconnect (wireless) and playing songs from apple music may have occasional 1 second pauses but this is inconsistent and not really bothersome for me. - one episode of a jerky transmission on very low speeds (5-10kph on a stop light). It went away 15mins after (after I engaged the auto-hold and i-stop function). Didn’t happen again. I guess the turbo needs to be warmed up a bit before starting? Fuel economy over-all average is 9.7km/L (daily though, I average 7-7.5km/l city, 12.6km/l highway oftentimes reaching 14.8km/l at tplex at 100kph cruise control). Fair, but this is a trade off I expected with the type of engine it has. Overall though, this is a fantastic car: drives well, quiet, refined, premium, no rattles. If you have the money and you don’t need a lot of space, get it.

  Overall my 2023 Mazda CX-5 AWD Turbo is a joy to own and drive, that is if gas per liter is not your worry. The riding comfort, almost luxury experience, safety of the vehicle, pride of ownership and most of all the happiness it gives you when you drive it: all superb! When it comes to after sales, I will not speak for all mazda dealers but for mazda Makati, no headaches whatsoever so far, very good experience with their service. I just wish that since Mazda is a premium vehicle, they should have a more premium lounge while we wait in for the car undergiing servicing.
