The Nissan Almera is in the best shape it's ever been. The model has improved a ton in the styling department, adopting Nissan’s signature design with a ton of new features added. As it stands, the model is what we consider to be an ugly duckling turned swan. It looks amazing now, and it’s definitely worth a look.
All the enhancements made to the Almera would span its entire spec sheet, especially in the N-Sport variant, but here are just five features that make the Almera a worthwhile buy in 2023.
Design
What more can we say about the design? From the ugly duckling that was yesteryear’s Almera, to the current one that we have today, the sedan’s definitely in the running to be one of the best-looking in its segment. The V-Motion grille is only part of the story. The model actually benefits a ton from the wedge shape that gives the Almera a very athletic look. Paired with the slim head and taillights, you’d be forgiven for doing a double take while this car’s parked or at the dealer.
Engine
When you pop open the hood of the Almera, you might think that the engine looks a little small. While the motor is small in size, don’t let it fool you as it may surprise you when you put your foot down. The 1.0-liter three-cylinder motor is a tiny tower of torque. With 99 horsepower, it doesn’t seem like it’s an exciting drive, but the way the power is delivered, and the way that the motor reaches its peak torque figure of 152 Nm early on in the rev range. You’ll feel that this engine is more excitable than its rivals. If you really want the most out of the motor, then go for the manual transmission variant (yes there is still a manual variant) which has an extra 8 Nm more torque.
Screens everywhere
One big trend that we’ve been seeing with manufacturers is the addition of a ton of TFT displays in the cabin, and the Almera is no exception. The infotainment screen and the gauge clusters get the TFT treatment, resulting in a cabin that feels rather futuristic. Seeing all of your information at a glance, in a bright and colorful display no less, is a big thing in 2023. For the purists, however, you still get an analog dial, so you get the best of both worlds regardless of your preferences.
Fully-optioned infotainment system
In 2023, it’s imperative that you have at least a rear-view camera, but Nissan put out the full package for the Almera’s infotainment display. Not only do you get a reverse view camera, you also get a 360 around-view monitor as part of Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility suite of features. The infotainment display isn’t a one-trick pony as well, since you also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto thrown in the mix making for a thoroughly modern infotainment experience for the driver.
Intelligent Mobility
In addition to having a very tech-laden infotainment system, the Almera is also well-equipped in the safety department. Airbags are all well and good, but the key to safety is not getting into an accident in the first place. As such, the Almera can come equipped with some of Nissan’s latest and greatest safety features from the Intelligent Mobility Suite. We’ve already covered one, and that is the Around-View Monitor, but that’s not the only thing that Nissan has given its Almera. On top of that, we also have the Intelligent Emergency Braking that’s coupled with the Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. These two features allow for an invisible layer of safety while driving just in case your attention wanders or if there is a car in front of you that slows down suddenly.
