The Peugeot 3008 crossover launched in 2022 and it had a revolutionary exterior and interior design coupled with tech features that made it a competent rival for other crossover models. Peugeot does not have the same influence Japanese and American brands have here in the Philippines, partly because here in the Philippines, European cars are expensive to buy and own.
While it is a fast-growing brand Philippines, don’t let that stop you from taking a look at what Peugeot has to offer. Today, we’ll be talking about the 3008 and the five attributes it has that make it a well-rounded car.
The 3008’s growl
The Peugeot 3008 doesn’t have the beefiest engine in its class, in fact, it only has a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. While it’s small, this tiny engine is capable of 165 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, coupled with an automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, then you have a car that can be relaxing and exciting whenever you want.
The 1.6-liter engine in the 3008 does not propel you to terrifying speeds, but, the engine produces a noticeable growl that grows the lower the gas pedal goes. The noise is not loud or annoying, it simply serves as a supporting act while the car is going along, providing some unexpected excitement in a crossover SUV.
Advanced Driver Assist System
In addition to traditional safety systems in a car like a seatbelt and airbags, Peugeot’s Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) has Active Blindspot Detection, Active Lane Keeping Assist, and Advanced Driver Attention Warning. These systems monitor your vehicle’s status, trajectory, speed, oncoming traffic, and potential hazards to let drivers know of potential hazards.
The 3008’s party piece though is its Advanced Driver Attention Warning system. This system tracks the driver’s travel trajectory and evaluates the driver’s alertness by identifying deviations from road markings. If the 3008’s computer senses that you may be losing your edge while driving, it will let you know by triggering several levels of audible and visual warning signals.
These driver-aids and warning systems go a long way in reducing traffic-related incidents, driving while exhausted is as dangerous as driving under the influence of alcohol. With the addition of these systems, the 3008 is a safe car to drive while also cultivating safer drivers.
Captivating design
Car designers have to strike a balance between making a car look futuristic and grounding the design in reality. When done correctly, they have a car that looks unique, but won’t go out of style in a span of two years.
With the 3008, Peugeot has gotten this mixture right. The 3008 looks stylish and futuristic, without making it look tacky and excessive. The 3008’s looks are exceptional, and while it may not be to everyone’s tastes, in a time where bigger grilles and shrinking headlights are the trends, the 3008 is a breath of fresh air.
Vast interior and boot space
Pop the back door of the 3008 open and you’ll find a spacious trunk, with 591 liters of space, when you fold the rear seats down, the 3008 has a total of 1670 liters of space. The massive boot space comes as a surprise when you look at the 3008 from the outside since it doesn’t look wider than the average compact crossovers you see in the market. The main selling point of a compact crossover SUV is a spacious interior and boot, and Peugeot ticked all those boxes when they designed the 3008.
Stability and Comfort
European roads are a combination of twisty country roads and fast, lengthy motorways. In addition, European automotive standards are strict and are a constant challenge for automakers to meet, so you should expect that European cars sold here are built well.
So, when the 3008 is on open roads like the highway or expressway, the vehicle feels stable and planted even when you reach the 100 km/h mark, despite having a high ride height. The 3008 stays still and poised even when you break past the 100 km/h mark, which is to be expected since it is built to tackle Europe’s vast road network which has even higher speed limits in comparison to the Philippines.
