The Tiggo 7 is the compact crossover in Chery’s lineup. It’s the biggest 5-seater in the automaker’s range behind the larger Tiggo 8 7-seat crossover. It costs P1,295,000 and it only comes in one variant. While it is one of the more affordable models out there, that doesn’t mean that it is devoid of features, nor is it a compromised experience. So here are 5 things we like about it that make it a worthwhile purchase.
Turbocharged engine
Many cars in this price point give you a naturally-aspirated engine, but Chery has a turbocharged 4-cylinder motor that pushes 145 hp and 210 Nm of torque. Now, that’s quite a bit of power for a compact car, and the torque is substantial enough to get it going within a good span of time. It’s very usable and quite peppy once it gets going.
The distinct looks
While most crossovers are starting to look alike, the Tiggo 7 is its own brand of uniqueness in a market where sharp cuts and corners are all the rage. Instead of the normal boxy edges we see on the road, the Tiggo has design cues that are more arrow-like in its design and have a more elegant flavor to it. It’s like a more mature Tiggo 5X, dressed up sharply.
The interior space
Now, it may be compact, but the Tiggo 7 has a good amount of space for passengers and their luggage at the back. With seating for 5 passengers, legroom is good along with ample headroom and shoulder room. You also get 400 liters of space in the cargo area along with rear seats that fold so you can haul larger items.
Ground clearance
With 210 mm of ground clearance, this crossover has the equivalent or close to the figures posted by ladder-frame SUVs or pickup trucks. The Tiggo 7 is a rather tall car sitting on 18-inch wheels that also do look quite good. This will ensure that you don’t scrape your underside while going over the pothole-laden streets of the Philippines or EDSA for that matter. It’s peace of mind for you and your passengers as a scrape could kill the mood and disrupt conversations or silence inside the cabin.
Warranty
While most brands will give you at least a 3-year warranty, Chery has upped the game and are opting to give a 3-year service plan, 5-year or 100,000 km general vehicle warranty, and a 10-year or 1,000,000 km powertrain warranty. Peace of mind can definitely be achieved thanks to this, and considering that Chery is backed by the same guys that deal with heavy equipment, namely UAAGI who handles Foton, then at least the longevity of your automobile is not doubtful.
