It took a while to get here, but now that the Ford Bronco has launched in the Philippines, we can’t help but drool all over this rugged midsize SUV. Only available in one variant and with a price tag of P4,998,000, Ford pulled out all the stops to make the Bronco a good buy.
At that price point, you’d expect the Bronco to be bursting at the seams with features, and props to Ford Philippines as they did just that. Now, we’re going to talk about five features of the recently launched Ford Bronco that we love, read on to see if you agree with all of them.
The Sasquatch Package
Let's begin with a feature that significantly enhances the Bronco: Ford's Sasquatch Package. This upgrade package heightens the off-road capabilities of the Bronco to new heights. For starters, it equips the Bronco with 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels that can accommodate 35-inch mud-terrain tires. The beadlocks help off-roaders safely reduce air pressure in their tires without de-beading it from the wheels—particularly useful when tackling slippery terrain. Meanwhile, the chunky tires give the Bronco a bigger footprint and added height. Not to mention, a more aggressive stance.
Next, the Sasquatch Package also includes position-sensitive Bilstein shock absorbers. A few benefits of these types of shock absorbers, among which are many, include better impact absorption, adaptive damping based on the suspension’s travel, and increased traction by maintaining better tire contact with the ground.
Last but not least, to accommodate the larger tires and wheels, the package gives the Bronco a distinct set of fender flares that not only give the wheels and body better clearance but also make the SUV look a lot tougher too.
The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6
The Bronco in its base form is already a hefty brute of an SUV, and with bigger, wider tires, rolling resistance is increased as well. To shift all that weight, the engine has to be beefy, too. Powering the Bronco is a 2.7-liter EcoBoost gasoline V6 engine which puts out an impressive 330 hp and 555 Nm of torque. The twin-turbocharged V6 ensures that whether the Bronco is on the road or on the trail, it will have more than enough power to muscle its way through.
Removable hardtop and doors
Whether you’re overlanding or off-roading, there will always be situations where you’ll meet challenging terrain that will have you repeatedly going in and out of your vehicle. To make it easier for ingress and egress, or if you simply want to feel the world around you, the Bronco’s doors and hardtop are removable.
Ford provides owners with a toolkit that will allow them to remove the Bronco’s doors in a few quick steps. This quirky feature might not always be used, but hey, it’s nice to know that you have a car that will let you connect with the great outdoors.
The infotainment system
Yes, the Bronco is an SUV tailored for off-roading, but, it doesn’t mean the interior is barren with tech. Quite the opposite, actually, as the Bronco is packing a ton of tech all just to keep you entertained during drives.
First, we’ve got the expansive 12.7-inch touchscreen. This command and control center has swipe capability and voice recognition allowing drivers to give the road their undivided attention. Plus, it has wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto meaning no more pesky wires just to listen to your own playlist.
Completing the set is our favorite feature in the entire infotainment system: the 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, which also includes a subwoofer. This speaker system means you get crisp and clear sounds even when you’re off the beaten track.
G.O.A.T Mode
Goats are the kings when it comes to tackling harsh terrain, heck, they can even climb slopes with pitches exceeding 60 degrees. So, having a terrain management system called Goes Over Any Type of Terrain or G.O.A.T mode, will surely give you lots of confidence to go off-road.
GOAT mode offers several pre-programmed settings, each optimized for specific off-road scenarios such as sand, mud, rock crawling, and snow. By selecting the appropriate mode, the Bronco's electronic systems adjust parameters such as throttle response, transmission shifting, traction control, and differential locking to suit the terrain's challenges.
This system empowers drivers to navigate through various off-road environments with confidence and ease. Whether it's navigating through deep mud, traversing rocky trails, or conquering sandy dunes, GOAT mode enhances the Bronco's capability and versatility, making it a formidable off-road machine.
With all those features on the table, it goes without saying that the new Ford Bronco could very well be the most capable off-road vehicle on the market today. With a healthy combination of creature comforts and rugged, go-anywhere capability, it’s the perfect vehicle for folks looking to make the most of every drive—provided you’ve got deep pockets.
