It’s often asked, what is the cheapest car to buy today? We have inflation and excise taxes to thank for making cars so unattainable, but here’s a car that’s gotten so affordable that it’s dipped below the P500,000.
Back then, P500,000 was a lot of money. That amount of cash could get you a decently-specced model or a top-level trim. Now, however, it’s quite rare to see a car go for as low as P600,000 let alone P500,000. Prior to this model, the Suzuki S-Presso was the cheapest car in the barn at just P563,000, which is quite a far cry from its initial launch price of just P518,000.
Now, here’s a car that’ll break even the launch price of the former most affordable brand-new car in the country, the Kia Picanto.
Now while the hatchback retails for at least P590,000, a recent promotion launched by Kia Philippines for the Picanto brought the model to an all-time low cash price of just P499,000. This effectively makes the Kia Picanto the most affordable car in the Philippines at the time of this article’s writing and for as long as the promotion lasts.
The promo will encompass the entire lineup for the Picanto, and various discounts can be had for the 1.2 EX AT, 1.2 EX MT, 1.0 LX AT, and 1.0 LX MT, and it will last from now until the end of June, 2022.
For the time being the Kia Picanto in its 1.0 LX MT trim will is the cheapest car that you can get in the country, following that, the Kia Picanto 1.0 LX AT is the second-cheapest car that you can get in the market today at just P549,000.
The small hatchback’s high-level EX trims will also be given a cash discount and the 1.2 EX MT gets a cash price of just P599,000 while the top-spec 1.2 EX AT will set you back P699,000.
So there you have it, the most affordable car in the Philippines today, and for 2022, is the Kia Picanto in its 1.0 LX MT trim. Though, it might not hold that title for long.
