It appears that 2020 is the year for underdogs, and October is the month for Kia. The brand’s newly-launched Stonic made headlines as the most affordable crossover in the Philippine lineup of the South Korean brand.
Dressed in bold colors, the Kia Stonic was made available in the month of October, with many media outlets covering its debut and even its introductory price tag. With its launch, a lot of noise was made, and the Kia Stonic was able to pique the interest of many buyers in the Philippine market, especially on AutoDeal.com.ph.

For the month of October, the crossover topped the charts in terms of popularity. Many inquiries were made, so much so that the Stonic overtook a lot of popular nameplates in the industry. One such legendary nameplate it managed to overtake was the Hilux, a midsize pickup from the most famous brand in the Philippines, Toyota. Still, a feat considering that the truck just got an update. You also see Kia managed to unseat the Suzuki Ertiga from its top spot back in Q3 of 2020.
Trailing behind the Suzuki 7-seater is another popular crossover, the Geely Coolray. The model’s placing is still impressive considering how persistent it has been throughout the product’s lifespan. It appears that because of the times, consumers are leaning more towards affordable vehicles more than anything else, and the Kia Stonic came at a very opportune time in the market. The most expensive model on the list is the newly-launched Toyota Fortuner, whose reputation precedes it. Topping out at P2,414,000 in its two-tone colorway, the Fortuner is outside the average price of every vehicle sold on AutoDeal.com.ph.

The market is indeed trending down in terms of price, and consumers in the market are allocating fewer funds to their car-buying budget based on our metrics. Entry-level vehicles like the Stonic are quickly making a name for themselves and creating a lot of buzz in the market. Just earlier this year, the Suzuki S-Presso managed to take the top spot in our top 40 during the first half of the year.
