Seres is a relatively new entry into the Philippine market and they’re mainly focused on offering a range of electric vehicles (EVs) for the Filipino buyer. The Seres line right now consists of the Seres 5 and the Seres 7 crossovers.
Focusing primarily on the Seres 5, goes a wildly different direction from other crossover EVs with its rather subdued looks. Despite this, the brand claims that this crossover combines performance, luxury, and cutting-edge technology. But is that really the case? We dove into the spec sheet of the Seres 5, and we’re happy to say that it lives up to the promise. Let’s take a closer look at what the Seres 5 has to offer.
Performance
Let’s start with the biggest selling point of any car, performance figures. The Seres 5 comes with two powertrain configurations, a pure electric powertrain, and a range-extended EV powertrain. The EV powertrain comes in single and dual electric motor versions. The single-motor version puts out 268 hp and 360 Nm of torque while the dual motor puts out a more potent 489 hp and 675 Nm of torque. Both versions are powered by a massive 80 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery providing 602 km of range for the single motor and 534 km of range for the dual motor.
Next up is the RE-EV variant which also comes in single and dual motor variants. The single-motor variant has 262 hp and 354 Nm of torque while the dual motor puts out 480 hp and 664 Nm of torque. Despite having a smaller 40 kWh battery, the Seres 5 RE-EV single motor can achieve a total driving range of 1,250 km while the dual motor can achieve 1,150 km thanks to a 1.5-liter gasoline engine acting as a generator.
The last variant in the Seres 5 lineup is the fastest and most powerful. Known as the Seres 5 SF, this variant is equipped with dual electric motors that have a combined output of 576 hp and a stump-pulling 940 Nm of torque. Aside from having the most power, the SF also boasts the biggest battery capacity with 90 kWh providing a claimed range of up to 530 km.
Luxury
Now that we’ve got performance ticked on, how about luxury? The cabin features high-quality Nappa leather upholstery, with both ventilated and heated seats, and the front seats come with a massage function for added comfort. Additionally, the seats are equipped with memory functions, ensuring a personalized driving experience for multiple users. The spacious interior includes a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen with 2K resolution, integrated with CarPlay for seamless connectivity. The car also features wireless charging pads for devices, making it convenient for passengers on the go.
For added luxury, the Seres 5 comes with a panoramic sunroof, allowing occupants to enjoy expansive views and natural light. The interior is also equipped with an advanced 11-speaker sound system, providing high-quality audio. To enhance the sense of premium comfort, the vehicle offers automatic climate control across two zones.
This blend of elegant design, premium materials, and advanced technology makes the Seres 5's interior a standout feature, positioning it as a highly comfortable and sophisticated choice in its segment.
Technology
The Seres 5 boasts a highly advanced tech suite, offering a premium driving experience. At its core, it features a 15.6-inch LCD dashboard with a large central control screen that provides ultra-bright, crisp visuals and responsive touch functionality. This display allows easy access to various functions and intuitive controls, minimizing distractions for the driver.
The vehicle is also equipped with intelligent connectivity options, including Bluetooth pairing for seamless integration with multiple devices. Additionally, it supports wireless charging pads, as well as USB and USB-C charging.
For entertainment, the Seres 5 offers a surround sound system that actively reduces road noise, ensuring an immersive listening experience. For a more connected journey, the SUV comes with a sophisticated driver assistance system and multiple driving modes, enhancing both safety and performance.
Now that we've covered the Seres 5, it's clear that its specs and features offer a truly unique and exceptional driving experience. One of the standout aspects of the Seres 5 is its impressive power. While the SF variant delivers an exhilarating amount of horsepower, even the single-motor versions show no signs of being underpowered. Beyond performance, the Seres 5 excels with its array of advanced tech features and comfort amenities, creating a premium environment for both drivers and passengers. With its combination of power, technology, and luxury, the Seres 5 stands out as a remarkable electric crossover.
Before wrapping up, we need to address one key aspect of the Seres 5: its pricing. Starting at P3,388,000, this electric crossover positions itself firmly in the premium segment. While the price may be steep, we believe that for those willing to invest, the Seres 5 delivers an experience that justifies the cost. With its blend of cutting-edge technology, impressive performance, and luxurious features, it has the potential to truly impress.
