Pickup trucks are plentiful in the Philippines as versatile platforms that can be used as workhorses and as lifestyle vehicles. They typically come with powerful diesel engines, a large bed at the back, and a good amount of cargo capacity to boot. With so many options available on the market, Maxus Philippines has entered the segment with the Maxus T60 bringing with it a unique proposition of features, pricing, and of course a powerful turbo-diesel engine.
Spacious cargo bed
What is a pickup truck without its rear bed? The Maxus T60 delivers well in this regard as it comes with a large cargo area at the back. Maxus Philippines even stated during the launch that they had trouble finding a cargo box and Bedliner for the vehicle as it was so large at the back. It has measurements of 1,485mm in length, 1510mm in width, and 530mm. Aside from this it also has a load capacity of between 1,010 to 1,040 kg depending on the variant chosen. This puts in on part with most of its competition making it an even more attractive option especially thanks to its competitive pricing.
Powerful turbo diesel engine
Under the hood, the Maxus T60 packs a 2.8-liter turbo diesel motor that pushes out 148 hp and 360 Nm of torque. While it may not sound like much on paper, it does let the pickup truck tow up to 2,500 kg which isn’t bad considering its rivals also have similar figures. Power is sent to either all four wheels or to just the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
Rugged looks
The Maxus T60 fits the typical description of what a pickup truck is. It comes with the rough and rugged looks that many look for in this type of truck, good ground clearance of 215 mm, and a wading depth of 800 mm. Aside from this, it comes with a flat and tough front fascia that exudes a strong masculine appeal and bulging wheel arches which further adds to its look. It also has strong haunches towards the rear of the vehicle that helps give it a go-anywhere look and feel.
Interior
As rugged as its exterior is, the interior of the Maxus T60 is a little bit more soft and comfortable. While hard plastics are present in the pickup truck that add to its workhorse-like appeal, there are soft-touch materials inside and other features that help make the cabin of the vehicle feel a little bit premium. Speaking of premium, the higher variant comes with leather seats while the lower models are made available with fabric instead. Whichever you choose they will both help give you a comfortable driving experience.
Aside from these features, the Maxus T60 also comes with a large 10-inch infotainment system for its higher variant and a 7-inch head unit for its lower models. These give the vehicle a little more technology as they both feature CarPlay and Mirror link technology. Sadly there is no Android Auto available.
Driving modes
What is a pickup truck if it can’t go off-road? The Maxus T60 has got you covered as it comes with a 4x4 system available for its top-of-the-line model. While it doesn’t have fancy terrain modes, it gets the basics done right with its locking differentials. To add to this the vehicle also comes with three driving modes, eco, normal, and power. Each one helps slightly change the dynamics of the vehicle either by delaying the throttle or giving you just the right amount of feel when you need it the most.
All things considered, the Maxus T60 gets the basics down of being a pickup truck. It may not have the other advanced safety features of its competitors but it does come with the equipment needed to be a rough and tough workhorse. It also comes with the good looks to be considered as a lifestyle vehicle on the side.
