The Hyundai Santa Fe has been in the Philippine automotive market since the early 2000s. In the local market the South Korean crossover has seen all of its three generations go on sale. With the third generation nearing the end of its model life cycle Hyundai has released a teaser photo for the next-generation vehicle.
The teaser photo shows the Santa Fe’s new front face which now comes with different lighting elements. The South Korean crossover now comes with T-shaped LED headlights which gives the vehicle an almost snake-like front clip with the vertical lights looking like fangs. Keeping in line with Hyundai’s latest releases the Elantra and Sonata, the Santa Fe also carries a wider grille that shares the same design elements as its sedan siblings. Along with the new lights the crossover also comes with a reshaped hood. The refreshed Santa Fe is also said to come with new tech and safety features. While details about the specific features it will have are sparse it should be the same as what can be found in the all-new Elantra. Rumor has it that the vehicle will also have some interior revisions done to it, however, no official photos have been released yet.
Aside from the teaser photo not much else is known about the next-generation vehicle. Power options could still remain the same, however, with the recent additions of hybrid vehicles into the market a hybrid system for the Santa Fe could be in the works. Current options for the crossover are a 2.2-liter diesel motor producing 197hp and 441 Nm of torque and a pair of gasoline engines in other markets. The gasoline fed power plants are either a 2.4-liter inline-four or a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. The 2.4-liter makes 184hp while the turbocharged 2.0-liter makes 235hp. For the next generation vehicle it should still come with either a front-wheel or all-wheel-drive versions.
Expect the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe to hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2020 with it going on sale in other markets at the start of 2021. As to when the crossover will go on sale in the Philippines is still unknown. Hyundai Philippines has yet to release an official statement with regards to the next generation crossover, however, our best guess puts the vehicle going on sale in the country within the first half of 2021.
