Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) coming hot off the launch of the all-new 2021 Isuzu D-MAX has stated that it plans to take a 15% share of the pickup truck market. It is important to note that the Japanese brand previously had an 8% share of the pickup truck segment. Now, however, Isuzu is confident that its new lineup of the D-MAX will be able to nearly double the market share of the previous model by the end of 2021.
According to IPC’s Vice President of Sales, Yasuhiko Oyama, they expect that the more lifestyle-oriented variants of the D-MAX will be the majority sales driver for the brand in the coming months. Oyama further explains that the automaker expects these variants to account for 70% of the Isuzu D-MAX sales for the remainder of the year. These are variants powered by the uprated 3.0-liter 4JJ-TCX engine that produces 187hp and 450 Nm of torque and is available with either a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission making them all the more attractive and competitive. The remaining 30% of the D-MAX sales according to Isuzu, will be composed of the fleet models or work-oriented variants that utilize the improved 1.9-liter RZ4E turbo diesel engine.
The Isuzu D-MAX has already claimed worldwide fame thanks to its fresh design, refined ride, and a host of new safety features that make the vehicle easier to drive and help prevent accidents. The popular Japanese pickup truck has even earned itself a 5-star rating from both the Association of Southeast Asian Nations New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP) and the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). These are not easy feats to attain as both crash testing agencies have updated their procedures to be more stringent.
With its impressive features, all-new design, and attractive pricing, it’s not hard to see why Isuzu Philippines is confident in the Isuzu D-MAX being a smash hit. It is important to note, however, that Isuzu Philippines will be adjusting the pickup truck’s pricing after its 90-day introductory price promo finishes. That said, the all-new model is expected to continue the nameplate’s reputation of being the strong, reliable, and dependable pickup truck that it is known for.
