Chevrolet, now that’s a brand we’re glad to talk about once again. Earlier in the year, we got the Tracker, but now, not long after, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is making a return, not as a ladder-frame SUV, but now as a compact crossover SUV. This is a totally new Trailblazer, and it’s not the same pickup platform that we’ve gotten used to, and neither does it have a diesel engine. Though, don’t discount it just yet.
The Covenant Car Company Incorporated (TCCCI) held a simple online launch where they addressed out questions all about the new compact crossover. The new model will be made in the General Motors’ (GM) Korean plant, and old Trailblazer owners need not worry about parts availability as GM have a plan laid out to keep parts of outgoing models in production.
Exterior
As for the new Trailblazer, the 2022 year model gets a new and “Camaro-inspired” design. The front grille is full of personality, and it’s equipped with a full-LED lighting system from the headlights, DRLs, and fog lamps. Chevy’s dual-port grille is also on full display, finished in black, and looking as handsome as ever. There is also a faux skidplate that gives the Trailblazer a more rugged character, and a sense of strength.
Moving over to the side, we get a sleek roofline and a bold hood line that gives emphasis on its more youth-oriented character. Standard throughout the lineup, you will get 17-inch wheels for all variants and trim levels of the Trailblazer. The rear also features LED lighting all around with high-mount stop lamps and taillamps.
Interior and Technology
Getting into the interior is a fuss-free experience because of the keyless entry system with a push-button start that Chevy was able to install. On top of that, you also get a power tailgate for assisted opening and closing of the rear door. Electronic power steering is standard, as well as the 8-inch infotainment system with Chevrolet’s proprietary MyLink system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Interior comfort is also assured and air cleanliness as well thanks to the AC system’s pollen filter and HVAC Air Moisture Sensor. In tandem, these two systems promise clean air as you drive.
Power
Under the hood of the Trailblazer is a turbocharged DOHC 1.3-liter inline-three engine from GM’s next-generation lineup of Euro IV E-Turbo engines. The little mill also has 155 hp and 236 Nm of torque, so it can deliver ample amounts of power even with its rather small size.
As for transmission options, Chevrolet only has a continuously variable transmission (CVT) available in the market. This should allow the Trailblazer to be driven easily and economically.
Safety
Standard three-point seatbelts are included with every model, and all five occupants can be buckled down without any compromise. You also get a total of six airbags which include the driver, front passenger, side, and curtain airbags. Then you also get reverse sensors and a reverse camera along with a tire pressure monitoring system and a tire-fill alert.
You also get traction control, stability control, electronic brakeforce distribution, hill-start assist, cornering brake control, roll-over protection, and engine drag control. On top of that, you also get Chevy’s lineup of advanced driving assistance features such as Brake Pre-Fill, Fading Brake Assist (FBA), Panic Brake Assist (PBA), and Mini Spare Detection, which will adjust and equalize the vehicle’s brake force to make sure it stops in a stable manner with a spare tire installed.
As for driving aids and assists, the Trailblazer is surprisingly well-equipped. Forward Collision Alert is available along with Following Distance Indicator, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, the reverse camera, Rear Park Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic all keep the driver safe and out of harm’s way.
Price
As for the price, the ChevyTrailblazer starts at P1,488,888 and tops out at P1,621,888. There will be two variants of the model available in the form of the LT which is the base form of the Trailblazer, and the Premier, the highest spec.
You can also get the Trailblazer in a wide array of colors, ranging from Summit White, Black Meet Kettle Metallic, Crimson Metallic, Blue Glow Metallic, Vivid Metallic, Mahogany Red Metallic, Abalone White Tri-coat, and Satin Steel Grey Metallic.
