Astara has been designated as the exclusive importer of pick-up trucks from Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) in the Philippines. This partnership has resulted in the global mobility brand assuming control over the domestic distribution of new vehicles, parts, and services for the Chinese automaker. This new development for Astara also means that the number of brands under their leadership rises to three, with JMC joining Peugeot and GAC.
This agreement comes on the heels of Astara's fruitful collaboration with the brand in the Chilean, Bolivian, and Colombian markets in 2019. This recent development not only consolidates Astara's global presence but also enhances its operations in the Philippines. In addition to the distribution of JMC pickup trucks in the country, Astara will also handle the distribution of parts and services for the local market.

“At Astara, we are honored to include JMC in our distribution activities in The Philippines. This leading brand stands as a great asset to our portfolio in the Philippines, aligning perfectly with Astara’s vision for the future of mobility. Our successful representation of the brand in other countries demonstrates our ability to serve its loyal customers, dealer network, and business partners.”
Meanwhile, Suen Xiaoquan, the president of Jiangxi Jiangling Motors Import & Export Co., Ltd. (JMIE), expresses joy in partnering with Astara within the pickup truck market.
The executive stated, “We are delighted to collaborate with ASTARA in the pickup vehicle market. Together, we will offer more choices, better options, and exceptional customer service, all designed to meet the evolving needs of the market and exceed the expectations of Philippine consumers.”

Aside from this announcement, Astara has not disclosed additional details, such as the specific vehicles that will be part of JMC's lineup under their leadership. However, based on the image that Astara provided, we can gather that JMC is putting forth a new contender in the midsize pickup segment with the JMC Grand Avenue. Specs and technical details are not out yet so we’ll have to wait a bit further on what the Grand Avenue will bring to the table, as well as what other cars Astara will bring into the country.
