BMW Philippines just unveiled its 7 Series to the country. Distributed by SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., the new executive sedan is now ready for discerning consumers looking for a full-size high-tier executive sedan. Two variants of the 7-series are available, the 730i and the 745Le. Both are available in BMW’s Pure Excellence trim.
Starting with the BMW 745Le, it has a longer wheelbase compared to the 730i. It has an extra 140 mm over the standard model. The longer variant has a wheelbase of 5,260 mm while the standard still has a sizeable 5,120 mm.
Exterior
The exterior of the new 7 Series has a muscular presence. The reshaped lines paired with the restyled kidney grille give the sedan a substantial presence that is imposing yet elegant at the same time. The signature grille is flanked by the German brand’s Adaptive LED headlights that add some more character to the model’s front clip.
The lower section of the front comes equipped with air deflectors that redirect air to cool the brakes and reduce turbulence around the wheel arches. In those arches, sit 18 or 19-inch multispoke wheels, with the larger option being standard on the 745Le. Both variants, however, will feature run-flat tires.
At the rear, the tail lamps feature a slimmer profile compared to its predecessor. The LEDs are placed behind a red and black surface for added contrast and to emphasize the L-shaped contour.
Interior
On the interior, the BMW 7 Series features a choice selection of materials, with the most prominent being the Nappa leather found all throughout the cabin. Serving as accents are the Poplar Grain Metallic Gloss trim pieces. The 745Le Pure Excellence also benefits from the brand’s active seat ventilation system for both the front and rear. Rear Seat Entertainment Experience that offers 10-inch, full HD touchscreens with a centrally located tablet, further enhanced by a Harman Kardon Surround Sound system.
In the 730i Pure Excellence, meanwhile, has “Dakota” leather upholstery with fine wood trim pieces throughout. Accompanying this trim material are aluminum embellishments that add more contrast and a variety of materials.
Standard across all models are ambient lights, a 4-zone automatic climate control system, along with electric roller sun blinds and a reworked steering wheel with multi-function buttons.
Technology
With a 12.3-inch instrument cluster screen and BMW’s 7.0 operating system, the driver can view more information at a glance. It also comes with a Control Display that measures in at 10.25-inches diagonally. Apple CarPlay is standard throughout the range, as are convenient gesture controls.
Apart from that, creature comforts such as BMW’s soft close for its doors, and Comfort Access is also available for seamless ingress and egress. The central information display also allows users to access BMW’s Parking Assistant, which allows for seamless parallel or perpendicular parking on the road. The feature also allows the car to maneuver out of parallel parking spaces. Park Distance Control is also standard with front and rear parking sensors that are paired with a rearview camera system with surround view on the BMW 745Le.
Powertrain
The 730i comes with BMW’s TwinPower 4-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 265 Hp and 400 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 745Le Pure Excellence serves up a 3.0-liter BMW TwinPower 6-cylinder gasoline engine that is paired with an electric motor. This makes it the first-ever Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in the Philippines. Expect up to 55 kilometers of electric-only range in ideal conditions and together with the engine, the powertrain makes 394 hp and 600 Nm of torque.

With a tag price of P5,990,000 for the 730i Pure Excellence, available in Arctic Grey, Black Sapphire, Imperial Blue, Mineral White, and Sophisto Grey, and full of features, the new BMW 7 Series starts at a premium but could be well worth it for the right buyer.
