This year, AC Motors took BYD under its wing, and the brand’s full lineup of EVs is ready for the electrified future that we’re all anticipating. The current lineup of cars includes the Dolphin, the Tang, and Han. For the 2024 model year, however, we can expect another model to debut or at least preview at this year’s Philippine EV Summit.
The previewed model will be the Atto 3, an electric crossover that will officially debut later this year, in 2023, and it might be the right size and spec for the Philippine market considering that many buyers are looking for an all-rounder of a vehicle to take through and out of the city.
Happening on October 19, 2023, the special preview of the Atto 3 will be shown but with no specs. BYD’s preview will be held alongside Kia’s showcase of the EV6. No specifications are yet to be revealed, but we’re expecting at least a 52.3 kWh battery pack that can go up to 400 km on a single charge. The electric motor can bring the Atto 3 up to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds. However, if BYD Philippines equips its Atto 3 with a 63.8 kWh battery pack, the model can achieve up to 480 km on a single charge.
As for the power and torque figures, we can get up to 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque from its single-motor setup. Charging up the Atto 3 will take around eight to eight and a half hours with a Type 2 7 kW AC charger, which will likely be included in the purchase package, though no confirmations yet—we will have to wait until the official launch.
The interior of the Atto 3 will come with a large infotainment system, 15.6 inches in diagonal length. Couple that with the five-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof to name a few things, and the Atto 3 stands at 4,455mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,615mm tall on a 2,720mm wheelbase.
As for the price, and given the competitive tags that BYD is pushing, we can expect that it will fall between the Dolphin and the Tang, possibly near the pricing of the Han.
