After being the 3rd best-selling automotive brand in the country last year, Ford Philippines started 2016 with another impressive sales performance. The figures were phenomenal; with the Everest, EcoSport, and Ranger cementing their place as the American brand's best-sellers.
Ford Philippines sold a total of 2,459 vehicles for January 2016. This is 50% higher than what they had in the same month last year.
It’s a fantastic start to 2016, and we’re extremely proud of how the Ford brand continues to connect with our fast-growing base of Filipino customers,” said Lance Mosley, managing director, Ford Philippines.
Leading the ranks is the all-new Ford Everest which sold 1,144 units – the 2nd all-time highest for this model. This figure's not surprising considering that even though its units were only delivered by September, it still ranked as the 3rd highest by the end of 2015. This further proves the appeal of its bold new design to car buyers.
The EcoSport ranked 2nd with 551 units sold. The small and agile nature of this compact crossover plus its SUV-like features make it a best seller among new car buyers. Its attractive price point is also a huge part of its appeal to the market.
The beefy Ford Ranger pickup truck also continues to perform well in terms of sales with 543 units sold. Its smart features combined with tough and authoritative exterior fascia makes it one of the top choices of pickup truck buyers.
The Explorer and the Fiesta both did well with 95 and 71 units sold, respectively. It's quite surprising for the Fiesta considering the current popularity of subcompact sedans among first-time car shoppers. We can only speculate that Filipinos are more inclined to look for big cars when it comes to Ford vehicles. On the other hand, Ford's iconic muscle car – the Mustang – sold 10 units for the month of January.
With this trend, Ford Philippines will continue to be one of the top-selling brands in our country. And they’re not holding back in expanding their network of dealerships as Ford Marilao in Bulacan is set to be inaugurated by the end of the month.
