At the first Discovery Drive Fest, GAC Motor Philippines announced a few things. The first being that it was able to achieve a remarkable seven-month streak of record sales performance for the brand. The next, and equally as exciting is the addition of a new variant to its lineup.
Mr. Franz Decloedt, the marketing director of Astara Philippines, announced at the GAC Discovery Drive Fest that the brand was able to achieve an impressive 276-percent year-over-year growth with 825 units sold in the period.
“We are elated to celebrate our exceptional 7-month streak in sales performance, which is a testament to our team's hard work, innovation, and the trust our customers have in us. Our brand's dedication to delivering cutting-edge vehicles that cater to the evolving needs and preferences of our Filipino customers has been the driving force behind this impressive sales trajectory.”
Raoul Picello, Astara Philippines’ Managing Director, formally opened the three-day GAC Discovery Drive Festival, which will happen from August 25 all the way to August 27, 2023, stating “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has played a role in our success story – our customers who have chosen to drive with us, our partners who have supported our endeavors, and our dedicated team members who have worked tirelessly to make this all possible.”
With the event officially started, GAC Motor Philippines proceeded to unveil its all-new GS8 4WD seven-seater to the event-goers. The launch will also serve as a closeup preview of the new model from GAC for discerning owners with a penchant for off-road adventures.
Historically, only the 2WD version was made available when the new-generation GS8 was presented in the country. Now, car buyers are given the option to go for the top-spec trim with all the bells and whistles, which include a 4WD system. The engine is still the same 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that makes 248 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Up to seven passengers can fit in the cabin with a 2-3-2 seating configuration.
Apart from the enhanced drivetrain, the model will also get additional drive modes, a 10-speaker Alpine Sound System, a ventilated central armrest compartment, and also a price tag of P2,548,000 with a full five-year warranty from GAC Motor Philippines. GAC states that customer deliveries will start soon for this model and that the price is an introductory one at the moment. By September 30, 2023, the price of the GAC GS8 in its 4WD flavor will increase by P100,000.
