Geely has quickly become one of the hottest brands in the local auto industry. Spurred by the undisputed success of the Coolray and reception of the Azkarra and Okavango, it appears Geely is aiming for the jugular by launching a new model in an unexpected segment.

The rumors are true. Geely is launching the Emgrand sedan, and it's happening on February 25. It's shaping up to be a fun holiday for fans of the Chinese automaker, as the Emgrand will offer tons of features to stoke excitement.

By all indications, the upcoming Emgrand will be the all-new model currently taking China by storm. The new Emgrand looks like a marvel of modern design and engineering. It's also a stylish little sedan, sporting a sleek and elegant look with Geely's latest design philosophy.

Inside, the Emgrand offers plenty to look at, with a mix of premium-looking materials immediately catching the eye. Pair that with a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel and a substantial touchscreen display, and you've got all the makings of another bestseller.
We don't know yet which power plant the local-spec Emgrand is packing under the hood, although ther's a good chance it's the same JLC-4G15B 1.5 liter naturally aspirated inline-four gasoline engine. This particular engine delivers up to 114 hp with 147 Nm of torque and pairs with either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

In any case, we're looking forward to what the all-new Geely Emgrand brings to the table. Could it rival the likes of the Toyota Vios and Honda City? Only time and the right pricing will tell, but we like the Emgrand's chances—for now. We'll learn more about the 2022 Geely Emgrand when it officially launches in the Philippines on February 25.
