Geely Philippines did a soft launch of the Azkarra compact crossover back in March of this year, however, with the COVID-19 pandemic pumping the brakes on the automotive industry, the official launch had to be postponed in the interest of health and safety. Now, Geely Philippines has set a new official launch date for the Azkarra, for May 30, 2020.
We’ve covered this car in the past, and like its smaller sibling, it is quite the crossover. With the same build quality, attention to detail, and advanced features, the Azkarra seems like one compelling package for Philippine car buyers. With the same engine, but different tricks in the top of the line variant, the Azkarra manages to get more performance for its top-spec trim with the use of hybrid technology that improves the overall output of the powertrain.
It is important to note that Geely will be one of the first brands to do an online launch of a new model after ECQ. How the brand will launch its car will be an item of curiosity, seeing as most launches involve venues and getting an up-close and personal feel for the new vehicles. Geely also mentioned that it will be resuming operations in Metro Manila under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ). It will resume sales of its cars as soon as it can, and assured of the availability of their products even with limited operations.
So far, the details of the Geely Azkarra are already out, but for a proper introduction and demonstration, Geely Philippines would like to personally tell everyone about their newest crossover and perhaps shed more light on a car that was so close to getting launched months ago. For that, we will have to wait just a little while longer to see the larger brother to the Coolray.
