Earlier in March of 2020, the all-new Hyundai Elantra made its global debut as a standard gasoline driven sedan and with a hybrid option. The South Korean automaker also stated that it would be launching a performance version soon. To further reinforce that statement Hyundai has released new teaser images of the Elantra N albeit with camouflage. As confusing as the naming scheme goes for Hyundai, the Elantra N will slot above the N-line in terms of performance.
The two teasers out of the South Korean automaker reveal that it has revised the front of the vehicle. The corner intakes of the sedan have grown in size, the chin also appears to be much lower to the ground hinting at a lower and sportier suspension setup underneath. At the back of the sports compact now comes a redesigned rear fascia that is accompanied by a new big spoiler along with two exhaust outlets.
Not much else is known about the interior and possible features of the new Elantra N. However, we assume that it will come with the same features found in the standard model, just with a little more power under the hood. Speaking of power the Elantra N is rumored to be packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that should produce around 275hp. Transmission options have yet to be confirmed, however, it will likely inherit the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox found in the Hyundai Veloster N. It could also come with a 6-speed manual transmission as another option. Power will also likely only be sent to the front wheels as is the case with its regular variants.
Hyundai has yet to release an official release date for the vehicle, however, we could expect it to make its debut in the latter half of 2021. The question still remains, however, as to when Hyundai Philippines will launch the regular Elantra into the local automotive market. For now, all we can do is wait and see if the South Korean automaker will make an official announcement.
