Prior to the staging of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show in the US, Kia Motors circulated an image that hinted of a new full-size SUV concept to be displayed on their booth. Although they haven’t picked a moniker for this new model just yet.
At a glance, the vehicle glimmers with glossy golden-yellow paintwork. This is complimented by a chromed side mirror and a set of wheels sporting 5 huge spokes. The front and rear door handles were also designed in such a way that they meet at the B pillar.
But the biggest eye-catcher that Kia highlighted here is its overall masculinity. The side profile, the side skirt, the front and rear fender flares - everything leads to the impression that this vehicle is indeed going to be big and wide.
According to Kia, this new SUV was conceptualized in their design studio located in California. This gave them more room to play around with technology. As a result, they managed to come up with a vehicle that will compete in the large SUV market.
They also said that this vehicle “offers an abundance of advanced technology – including state-of-the-art health-and-wellness technology.” This claim was the major cliff-hanger here, and will be enlightened soon.
We can only speculate if this new full-size SUV contender will reach our shores. If that’s so, then it may be competing against staple models such as the Nissan Patrol Royale and Toyota Land Cruiser 200. This will definitely stiffen the competition within that segment.
