Auto Nation Group (ANG), the official importer and distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the country, has unveiled the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA. The setting of the event helps characterizes the brand’s persona for the vehicle – fun, youthful, and luxurious.
The new CLA comes with LED high-performance headlamps with daylight running lamps. These two elements help complement the low-slung hood of the vehicle and the grille. The car features narrow-designed taillamps with the plate holder located in the bumper to emphasize the width of the new CLA. This makes the car flatter and sportier. It also features 18-inch multi-spoke light design alloy wheels. All these design elements add to the sporty and elegant character of the vehicle.
The new CLA has a lot of space in many parts of its interior. The front features an increased headroom by 17mm and an elbow room increase of 35mm from before. Over in the rear of the vehicle, the trunk has a wide opening at 262mm. The compartment itself is now more convenient to load objects compared to its older model. The rear seats also fold in a 40:20:40 format, it also allows access into the trunk so that longer objects can be loaded into a vehicle.
Similar to that of other technologies seen in the other vehicles of Mercedes-Benz like the A-Class and the GLE, the new CLA comes with the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). The system features dual seven-inch digital screens for the instrument cluster and the media display.
The system offers a virtual assistant that can be activated with a press of a button on the steering wheel or by simply saying “Hey Mercedes” from anywhere in the cabin. It accepts voice commands that cater to infotainment functions such as navigation, phone calls, and music selections. On top of the MBUX system, the vehicle also has support for Apple CarPlay for a better hands-free experience.
For safety, the CLA features Active Parking Assist with a rear-view camera which will make parking a breeze. On top of that it also features Active Brake Assist, Adaptive brake lights, Anti-lock brakes, Electronic Stability Program, hill-start assist, and Acceleration Skid Control. The vehicle also features multiple airbags for the driver and front passenger including window and knee airbags for the driver. All of these systems help make sure that the driver and passengers are safe in emergency situations. Another key safety feature of the vehicle is Pedestrian Protection Active bonnet, which helps cushion the blow in the event that the vehicle hits a pedestrian lessening the chances of injury.
Powering the new Merc is an in-line four-cylinder engine that is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The engine produces 136hp and 200 Nm of torque. To further enhance the power that the engine offers the new CLA comes with Dynamic Select. The feature allows the driver to shift between various driving modes that suit their driving style, the weather, and road conditions. The car also comes with a comfort suspension package and direct steering assist.
The four-door coupe comes in the CLA 180 variant and is available in the following colors: Polar White, Digital White, Night Black, Mountain Gray, Denim Blue, Sun Yellow, Jupiter Red, Mojave Silver, and Cosmos Black.
The CLA will be offered at a price point of P3,190,000 and is now available at Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide.
