MG Philippines has officially revealed the 2024 MG 3 after previewing it at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). The MG 3 offers hot hatch-like looks, a feature-packed cabin, and a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) option.
The stylish five-door hatch features a wide front grille and sharp headlights, available with either halogen or full LED lighting depending on the variant. The front design is inspired by the MG GT sports sedan, while the rear showcases wraparound LED taillights inspired by Mazda. High-grade variants come with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and 195/55/R16 tires, whereas the base model features 15-inch steel wheels with covers and 185/65/R16 tires.
The MG 3 measures 4,055mm in length, 1,729mm in width, 1,521mm in height, and has a 2,570mm wheelbase. It offers 261 liters of cargo space with the rear seats up, expanding to 948 liters when folded.
Inside, the MG 3 boasts a sleek and stylish cabin with a 7-inch instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. Depending on the variant, it is available with 2, 4, or 6 speakers. Additional features include leather-fabric seats, an electronic parking brake (manual on the base model), remote keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control with rear vents, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, push-button start, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel on higher variants.
Under the hood, the MG 3 offers a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 120 PS and 150 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed CVT or a 5-speed manual gearbox for the entry-level variant. There is also a 1.5-liter inline-four hybrid engine, delivering a combined output of 190 PS and 250 Nm of torque, assisted by an electric motor with a 1.83 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and paired with a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), capable of averaging up to 23 km/L.
Safety features of the MG 3 include intelligent driver aids such as a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, lane watch, lane-keep assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Other safety systems include hill-start assist, a 360-degree camera (reverse camera on lower variants), rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat anchors, anti-lock brakes, and multiple airbags.
