MINI is preparing to release another special edition of its current lineup before unveiling its next-generation models. Following the recent introduction of a fully electric model, the BMW-owned brand is now targeting enthusiasts with a limited-run John Cooper Works variant based on the three-door model. What sets this hot hatch apart is the fact that it can only be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, hence the "1to6" designation. That’s is quite smart thinking for MINI. Production will be extremely limited, with only 999 units available for purchase.
The debut of this exciting hot hatch will take place at the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race, where it will be showcased to the public for the first time. The car will come in a striking Midnight Black color with a distinctive hood stripe. Mini has opted for a fixed specification for the JCW 1to6, featuring sleek glossy black 18-inch wheels, and it proudly displays "one of 999" lettering on both the dashboard and sunroof to emphasize its exclusivity.
Once inside the cabin, drivers will be greeted by stainless steel pedals, floor mats adorned with unique emblems, and side sills showcasing the "1to6" badging on the C-pillars. This unique branding can also be seen on the steering wheel and the passenger side of the dashboard. To add a touch of flair, the car is complemented by contrasting red accents, which match the color of the brake calipers.
Under the hood, the John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition remains unchanged, equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine that generates 231 hp and 320 Nm of torque. This power enables the spirited hatchback to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds, with a top speed of 246 km/h limited.
Starting in September, MINI will make the John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition available for sale in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Given the limited production of only 999 units, it remains uncertain whether any of these special editions will make their way to the Philippine market. However, it's possible that one or two lucky customers in the Philippines might get the chance to own this exclusive hot hatch.
