
Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has introduced the 2017 D-MAX featuring a restyled exterior and an updated interior during the 6th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). It now looks bolder and more composed as compared to its predecessor.
The new D-MAX gets a facelift as seen through its revamped grille, more prominent bumper, updated fog lamps, and redesigned projector headlights with LED daytime running lights. Turning at the side, it gets a power-folding exterior mirrors, chrome door handles, and a straight character line. The rear is fitted with LED taillights and a new tailgate with spoiler shape design. To further beef up its appearance, all variants of the new D-MAX is fitted 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, it has a black interior theme along with silver accents and leather seats. The 2017 D-MAX also has a restyled instrument meter and multi-information display which comes with a black-on-white gauges for easy readability. On the other hand, the manual variants of the D-MAX now have gear indicator display which is placed within the temperature and fuel meter cluster. In addition, IPC’s pickup truck features a 7-inch touchscreen head unit, automatic climate control and a push-button engine start/stop function.
Of note, the 2017 D-MAX’s four-wheel drive (4WD) system can switch from two-wheel drive to 4WD on-the-fly at speeds of up to 100 km/h. This is through the vehicle’s Terrain Command Select Dial placed near the gear lever. In terms of safety, the D-MAX is equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), and Hill Start Assist (HSA).
The D-MAX is still powered by Isuzu’s 3.0L diesel engine with Variable Geometry System (VGS) that delivers 163 hp and 380 Nm of torque. It is then mated to either a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The variants and prices for the 2017 D-MAX are as follows: D-Max 3.0L LS 4x4 A/T (P1,520,000); D-Max 3.0L LS 4x4 M/T (P1,450,000); D-Max 3.0L LS 4x2 A/T (P1,210,000); D-Max 3.0L LS 4x2 M/T (P1,140,000).
It is available in the following colors: Venetian Red, Cosmic Black, Titanium Silver, Splash White and, new Obsidian Gray.
