Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) launched the all-new Prius during the 6th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). The 4th generation hybrid sedan is built on an entirely new platform and boasts a sleek new interior and eye-catching exterior design.
The Japanese carmaker built the Prius on a completely new platform called the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). This makes use of standardised platforms to build powertrains and other major components for safer and more fuel-efficient vehicles.
The front of the all-new Prius takes on a sharp, aerodynamic look which, according to TMP, is based on the brand’s pioneering hydrogen fuel-cell car called the Mirai. The Prius is fitted with a chiselled hood and new triangular shaped headlights which give it a more distinct, aggressive appearance compared to its predecessor.
The Prius also gets the “dolphin roof” design from the Mirai adding a smooth, attractive silhouette. The design is completed by its huge boomerang-shaped taillights. Furthermore, customers will be able to choose between 6 colors to personalize their Prius; White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, Attitude Black, Dark Blue, and the new Emotional Red.
The interior of the Prius is integrated with white leather and black plastic material. The center console houses the JBL touchscreen entertainment system and the shift knob.
The all-new Prius is powered by a 1.8L VVT-i gasoline engine and an electric motor with Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) which charges itself by harnessing the kinetic energy generated by braking forces.
The Prius comes loaded with safety features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), Emergency Brake Signal, and 7 SRS airbags.
TMP disclosed that the all-new Toyota Prius will be available within the year.
