After giving the Brio small hatchback and Civic compact sedan much-needed updates, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) turns its attention to the Honda BR-V. The game-changing nameplate gets a refreshed version for this year that reignites its place in the competitive sporty-looking, seven-seater segment.
Of course, the 2019 Honda BR-V gets a noticeable update on its exterior design. Up front, the BR-V touts a commanding fascia that’s headlined by the now three-slat grille and new LED daytime running lights for the top variant. The bumper has been updated as well, giving it a busier look.
At the back, the new BR-V still has a continuous taillight design that connects the rear lamps. A new rear bumper is added, along with a set of vertical reflectors and chrome garnishings on the tailgate. There are only a few changes in profile which can be found on the new design on the 16-inch alloys.
Inside, the changes in the 2019 BR-V are also minute but it would be hard to not notice the new steering wheel design that’s lifted from the Civic FD. The layout is pretty much the same except for a few updates on dashboard finishings. The top-level V variants get sporty red accents on the leather seats, adding flair to the car’s interior.
The infotainment system has been updated as well. The 7-inch infotainment gains smartphone mirroring capabilities through MirrorLink, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the V variant, while rear parking camera is standard across the range.
As the 2019 Honda BR-V is basically a facelift, it gets the same 1.5-liter i-VTEC power plant from its predecessor, as is the cabin space volume. With that said, power ratings remain at 118 hp and 145 Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels via the sole transmission option, Honda’s Earth Dreams CVT. The list of safety features remains – dual airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, and ISOFIX child seat tethers. Stability control and hill start assist are standard across the lineup.
The 2019 BR-V comes in six colors: Tafetta White, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, and the signature Premium Amber Metallic. New for this version of the BR-V are Passion Red Pearl and Platinum White Pearl – both exclusive for the V variant.
Here are the 2019 Honda BR-V prices:
- S CVT – P1,035,000
- V CVT – P1,155,000
The facelifted 2019 Honda BR-V will be available in all Honda dealerships starting tomorrow, June 26, 2019.
