We hate to say it, but the Land Cruiser is widely regarded as the king of SUVs here in the country. It’s the transport of choice of VIPs, executives, and politicians. Now, there’s a new king as Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) launches the new 2016 Land Cruiser 200.
The LC200 has a legacy that dates back to the 1950's. Introduced to our shores in 1995, it has the reputation and reliability of a true off-roader that evolved into a luxurious SUV that is currently seen as a status symbol.
This new 2016 Land Cruiser 200 isn't the next gen model, but is rather a mid-cycle refresh that brings with it an updated exterior, better equipped interior, and a slew of luxury features. TMP though wants to dub this newest release as the “all-new” LC200.
The most obvious change is the redesigned front grille that now extends into the new BI-LED headlamps like wings. The bumper is also new to fit the LED fog lamps, as well as the rear combination lamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the LC200 has been revamped with a new steering wheel design, gauge clusters, and center clusters. The seats are wrapped in black leather, while there’s an added illuminated door scuff plates and a cool/hot storage box. The Premium variant, on the other hand, gets extra goodies such as a 4-zone automatic climate control, power moonroof, and the new audio-video navigation system.
There's not much of an upgrade under the hood and it's still powered by the same 4.5L V8 direct injection common rail system twin turbo-intercooler diesel engine. But the Premium variant is packed with features that adds to its 4x4 capabilities. This includes Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control (A-TRC), Hill-Climb Assist, Multi-Terrain Select, and CRAWL Control.
The new Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is now available for P4.422-million for the 4.5 Dsl A/T and P4.860-million for the Premium 4.5 Dsl A/T.
It also comes in a refreshed color lineup: Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Dark Red Mica Metallic, Beige Mica Metallic, and an extra P15,000 for White Pearl. New shades of Dark Blue Mica and Copper Brown Mica also also available on a by order basis.
