It looks like Toyota Philippines wants to continue its momentum next year as more vehicles are slated to be unveiled. Aside from the confirmation that the all-new Toyota Raize will be joining the brand’s local lineup, the Japanese automaker has also announced that the third generation of the Toyota Avanza will be brought in as well. While there are no exact dates yet, reports have stated that the all-new Toyota Avanza will be unveiled for the local market sometime in March 2022.
The all-new Avanza will definitely be a great departure from the older version of the vehicle as Toyota has chosen to ditch the rear-wheel-drive platform and go with a front-wheel-drive one instead. With this new platform, the Japanese automaker wants to make sure that customers can get better space within the vehicle especially since Toyota has added a sofa mode to the MPV.
Aside from this reports have also stated that the 2022 Toyota Avanza will also be well equipped. It will reportedly come with a digital A/C system, USB charging points, a push-button ignition system, and a choice between 15 or 16-inch wheels. As for safety, it looks like the new Avanza will be thoroughly upgraded compared to its older version, the small MPV is expected to have a 6-airbag system, ABS, stability control, and even possibly come with Toyota Safety Sense.
While the engine specifications for the all-new Toyota Avanza have yet to be confirmed, it will likely be paired with the two motors from the older version. This means that for the lower grades it could come powered by a 1.3-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine that produces 96 hp and 121 Nm of torque. For its higher variants, the small MPV will likely still have the 1.5-liter motor that makes 104 hp and 137 Nm of torque. The big change here is that the 4-speed automatic will be completely gone and in its place will be a CVT. However, the 5-speed manual transmission will still likely be around if Toyota decides to bring in a manual gearbox version of the vehicle.
With not many other details available about the upcoming 2022 Avanza, all we can do now is sit and wait for what Toyota Philippines has in store next year.
