Volkswagen Philippines has announced that the iconic Kombi van has officially made its way back to the Philippine market. The new premium van is based on the brand’s tried and tested T6 platform which gives it great versatility and comfort as it is also being used in other of the automaker’s vans and MPV models. That being said, Volkswagen has equipped the Multivan Kombi well as it comes with numerous features that fit well within its designated premium segment. The automaker has even brought in the top-of-the-line model for the Philippine market showcasing how confident it is with the new model.
Exterior
On the outside, the Volkswagen Multivan Kombi comes with a straightforward design, you get a rounded nose at the front which is adorned with the brand’s distinctive design language. When it comes to the premium van’s lighting elements it’s an all-LED affair that makes for greater visibility in inclement weather and at night. Aside from that, Multivan Kombi also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels to complete its look. For added convenience, the vehicle also has electric dual sliding doors and tailgate.
Volkswagen has also announced that more special colors will be made available soon for the van. These special colors are Candy White, Fontana Red, Ravenna Blue, Starlight Blue, Mojave Beige, Bay Leaf Green, Copper Bronze, and Indium Gray.
Bi-color options are also available with the Multivan Kombi and come in the following color options: Reflex Silver/ Indium Gray, Candy White/ Bay Leaf Green, Candy White/ Copper Bronze, Mojave Beige / Black Pearl, and Reflex Silver/ Fontana Red.
However, these color options will be made as a special order for those who want to customize their Volkswagen Multivan Kombi.
Interior
Similar to the exterior of the vehicle, the interior also comes with a premium look and feel. The seats come with Nappa leather, and dual swivel captain’s seats are also present in the vehicle. This not only makes it easier for occupants to talk with one another but also makes it easier to get in and out of the vehicle. A multi-function table is also present allowing for the cabin to be turned into a quick meeting room or as a place to hang out while on the road. Speaking of seating, the Volkswagen Multivan Kombi can easily seat 8 occupants with ease and with room to spare for luggage.
Tech
Aside from having a flexible interior, the Volkswagen Multivan Kombi also comes with a plethora of tech at its disposal. It comes with an active information display that can also display a map for navigation. Other features include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Discover media and Navigation, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. A park assist feature is also present with the vehicle adding more convenience to the already feature-rich van. The Multivan Kombi also comes with a Driving profile selector with dynamic chassis control with five settings, Normal, Comfort, Sport, Eco, and Individual for those who want a customized profile for themselves.
Power and Safety
Under the hood, the Volkswagen Multivan Kombi is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine that produces 148hp and 340 Nm of torque that is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission that comes with a Tiptronic mode. While this may not seem like a lot on paper, it is paired well with the vehicle and can quickly get it to highway speeds with ease.
For safety, the Multivan Kombi comes with 6 airbags, crosswind assist, an electronic stability program, hill start assist, anti-slip regulation, park distance control, and a rear camera. All standard features to be found in its segment, but nonetheless still very much welcomed.
Pricing and parts availability
Volkswagen Philippines is offering a special promo for the Multivan Kombi and has special introductory prices for it. For the lone Highline variant, it can be had for P3,595,000 in a monotone color and P3,640,000 for a Bi-color paint job.
For a vehicle that costs nearly P4,000,000, Volkswagen Philippines assures interested buyers that parts availability for the model will be great. The automaker already has a 3-months stock ready for the vehicle at its dealerships that come with a particular focus on fast-moving parts, general repair parts, and parts for the vehicle in the event that it ends up in a collision. With great attention paid to the premium van, it looks like the automaker is poised to make a mark on the van segment with the Volkswagen Multivan Kombi once again.
