After getting Blue’d last year, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) introduces new limited edition variants of the mu-X midsize SUV and D-Max pickup truck for 2018. If you’re guessing the changes are just purely aesthetic, well, you’re partially right.
IPC adds the 2018 edition of the D-Max X-Series — a limited edition iteration to the LS 4x2 AT and MT variant, known to elevate the workhorse’s visual appeal to another level. Just take a look at the photos below.
Gwapo, right? In case you’re lost, it now has black radiator grille with red Isuzu logo, front skirt with deep red accent, and red fog lamp garnish. At the rear, it gets the same skirt with red accent, a sleek cargo spoiler, and matte black roof rail.
Our favorite, however, is the red lip accent of the black 18-inch rims.

The aesthetic upgrades don’t stop on the outside. The D-Max X-Series gets a rocker plate with illuminated red Isuzu logo and additional USB ports for convenience. And oh, the leather seats are now adorned with screaming X-Series logos and red stitches. Did we say red?
The 2018 D-Max X-Series is available in Freestyle White and Black Hawk color options. I personally like the black one; it looks rad and should be best paired with an Imperial March soundtrack in the background.
As for the mu-X, IPC adds luxurious updates to its well-loved midsize SUV. Appropriately named mu-X Luxe, this limited edition variant is available in the exclusive Red Spinel body color that exhumes elegance — at least that’s how we see it.
Other design updates include the light gray fender flares and blue illuminated scuff plates.
However, the best feature of the mu-X Luxe is its Power Tailgate that can be overridden and has a memory function wherein you can set how high the tailgate opens. As a short guy, I’m giving IPC a huge nod for this.
IPC also upgrades the mu-X’s sound system to 3D surround. Nice. Sadly for 4x4 lovers, the mu-X Luxe variant is only available for the 4x2 LS-A AT.
All new limited edition mu-X and D-Max models are powered by the brand’s Euro 4-compliant 4JJ1-TCX 3.0L Blue Power Diesel engine, retaining its output figures of 177 hp and 380 Nm torque. Prices are yet to be announced as of this writing.
