As someone who isn’t a fan of MPVs, my adoration with the 2019 Suzuki Ertiga is quite surprising. It does what it’s supposed to do, without pretending that it’s something else – and that’s what makes the Ertiga a great car and ultimately one of the most improved vehicles in the country. Most of these improvements are found inside, designed to cater to the needs of those who are looking for a family car.
Let’s take a closer look at the 2019 Ertiga’s interior amenities and cargo space to see why it’s a desirable vehicle. Of course, peculiarities included.
Interior: Spacious and well-executed
First off, it’s hard to miss the beige-colored theme of the cabin, which is something that I absolutely love since it’s light to the eyes. However, those with messy family members would tend to disagree and for that, I highly recommend the Ertiga Black Edition.
Now, back to the beige trims. It’s paired nicely to well-executed plastics and glossy faux-wood accents – both of which aren’t cheap-looking. The vehicle controls are clustered intelligently and a lot of cubbyholes, bottle-holders, and cupholders are found inside the cabin, while the driver is gifted with elbow cushions by the door. If you’re going to take this car to long drives, you’ll appreciate this trivial feature. A comfortable driving position would be hard to find, though. It took me two days with the media unit before I found my sweet spot.
As for space, the 2019 Ertiga allows comfortable seating position for the average-sized passengers – around 5’6” tall and of medium built – three in the middle row and two at the back. However, taller individuals would mean certain adjustments to personal spaces.
The second-row seats slide into position so you could adjust the seats as needed. All backrests recline, as well. The suspension setup is a bit bouncy, but it’s way better than its rivals. NVH, on the other hand, is well isolated except for some engine noise at high RPMs.
Cargo Space: Maximize the space
With all seats erect, the Ertiga has enough room to fit a standard-sized child stroller plus two medium-sized knapsacks. That’s pretty much expected. However, the fun begins when the third-row seats are folded. They fold flat to the floor, which reveals 830 liters of usable cargo space. Even better, the lip of the wide stowage area is flat, making loading and unloading heavy stuff painless.
