Launch
The MG G50 Plus entered the Philippine market on June 4, 2024, alongside the MG3 Hatchback. At launch, the MG G50 Plus came in three variants, the 1.5 MT STD with a price tag of P1,048,000, followed by the 1.5 AT COM with a price tag of P1,188,888, and topped by the 1.5 AT LUX with a price tag of P1,288,888.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
The MG G50 is built on Maxus’ unibody MPV chassis and platform designed for a smooth and stable ride. Under the hood, the G50 is powered by a turbocharged petrol engine paired with either a seven-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. The MG G50 Plus’s turbocharged engine produces 178 hp and 285 Nm of torque, all sent to the MPV’s front wheels.
Stopping power comes from a set of disc brakes on all four wheels. Meanwhile, in terms of suspension components, the G50 Plus is equipped with MacPherson strut suspension up front and a torsion-beam suspension in the rear.
Equipped with an array of advanced technologies, the MG G50 Plus enhances convenience, connectivity, and driving pleasure. The large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless smartphone integration. Bluetooth connectivity, meanwhile, facilitates hands-free calls and audio streaming. The vehicle also features driver aids like cruise control, an electronic parking brake, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, and tire pressure sensors.
Exterior
The exterior of the MG G50 features a modern and sleek design that stands out in the MPV segment. Its bold front fascia includes the distinctive MG badge emblazoned up front and sharp LED headlights (Halogens on entry-level variants), while smooth, flowing body lines enhance aerodynamic efficiency and aesthetic appeal. Stylish 17-inch or 16-inch alloy wheels complement the overall design and LED daytime running lights and taillights provide enhanced visibility and a contemporary look.
Interior
Inside, the MG G50 is designed with comfort, space, and versatility in mind. The vehicle offers spacious seating for up to seven and eight passengers, with options for different seating configurations to accommodate both passengers and cargo.
