Ford EcoSport
P 938,000 – 1,190,000Capable & Economic - the Ford EcoSport fronts fantastic fuel efficiency, strong engine lineup, and a versatile design.
This episode is dedicated to all the dynamic duos we have in the world. Though we’re not going to go on and on about what famous twins are out there in the world, Caco does. All for good reason however because the 2019 Ford EcoSport Titanium variant comes as a set of twins to the Philippine market. The 1.0L EcoBoost Titanium, and the 1.5L Titanium.
While the transmission got an update, the engine in the 1.5L stayed the same. We skipped the naturally aspirated version because its engine is old news in this chassis. It is worth mentioning that the styling of the new EcoSport a significant departure from the previous generation, and the bulk of the features – excluding the projector headlamps are the same across the two engine options.
Everything that the EcoSport was known for is retained, refined, and boosted in the 1.0L Titanium variant. You still get the stubbiness, and the ground clearance that made the EcoSport a crowd favorite in the Philippines.
As we dig a little deeper into the lines and edges of this little subcompact’s exterior, we realize that as things changed, more things stayed the same. The overall shape of the exterior has been retained, but the refinement and pogi-factor is very much improved. The headlamps, grille and wheels are pretty much the only things that have changed, but moving over to the interior and…
We get new everything. This peppy little crossover has gotten a very remarkable upgrade in the form of leather seats, denser plastics and also, – well – an entirely new interior. Whereas the old one got trimmings that were very spartan, this one gets more refined touches as well as a Ford Sync3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Needless to say, the 1.0L EcoBoost is a great engine, and we cannot recommend it enough even in our Which Variant articles. While the1.5L Titanium is P1,098,000, adding another P90,000 to get the EcoBoost model is worth a ponder at P1,188,000.
