2020 MG 5 Review - Behind the Wheel
Taking on the subcompact category in the Philippines with big space and big features. We review the top of the line 2020 MG 5 Alpha sedan on this episode of Behind a Wheel. A sedan powered by a 1.5-liter engine mated with a CVT, and all for under a million pesos.
MG's entry into the world of affordable sedans is here with us for review on this episode of Behind the Wheel. We took the MG 5 sedan out for a spin in its Alpha trim. Equipped with a plethora of features, outstanding value, and dashing good looks, the sedan is poised to rival many subcompact cars in the Philippines. Starting at just P658,888, and topping out at just P938,888 for the variant we have on review, the MG 5 comes equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated motor that produces 112 hp and 150 Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT to help with fuel economy.
Tech is also one of the areas where the '5' excels in for its class. It has a large 10-inch infotainment screen up front capable of connecting to your smartphone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and features motorized seats for the driver and front passenger. You also get the convenience of a 360-degree camera that allows you to see everything that is happening around the car. The camera modules also output to the large display which allows the MG 5 to be parked and threaded through tight spaces with relative ease and without hassle.
The model also features a trunk that is quite large, on a chassis that is larger and longer than normal subcompacts in the market. This results in added space for the rear passengers, as well as the sizeable trunk, as previously stated.
