Speed and power, we all love it here at AutoDeal. Acceleration and top speed are two exciting metrics that we got to test out with the many cars we've had over the years. With so many models tested, however, a question popped in our heads, and that question was, "What are the fastest cars that we've ever had on Behind the Wheel?"
BMW 530d Luxury
As the only car with a diesel engine on this list, the BMW 5-series is a bonafide athlete with an oil burner pumping straight iron as quickly as you can put the pedal to the metal. With 265 hp and 650 Nm of torque coming from its straight-six, the Bimmer goes from 0-100 km/h in less than 6 seconds even while carrying a lounge at the back. Caco brought it up to Tagaytay for chauffeur duty for a wedding, and even with just a light tap on the pedal, it went up that incline no problem, and on the straights, it was simply a joy to use.
Ford Mustang GT
Rolling up with a hefty 5.0-liter V8 Coyote motor is the Ford Mustang GT. Caco tested the convertible variant, and man is it a breath of fresh air. It's also quite refreshing knowing that you're breathing the same air as that American V8 with 460 hp and 569 Nm of torque mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that shifts lightning quick. It gets up to 100 km/h in about 4.7 seconds and is sadly electronically limited to only 253 km/h.
Maserati Levante GT
With an engine that breathes 550 hp and pushes 729 Nm of torque, the Maserati Levante can be your grocery-getter and your weekend car all in one. It comes standard with a lot of features and a few pieces of tech that further improve the driving experience like suspension that adjusts its height on the fly. In this list, it has the most ground clearance on offer, but that doesn't stop it from ripping 291 km/h with its 3.8-liter Ferrari-built V8 engine, capable of 0-100 km/h times of 4.2 seconds.
Nissan GT-R
Godzilla was a star on Behind the Wheel a while back, and it pinned Caco to his seat with 565 hp and 633 Nm of torque coming from a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine that sends power to all four wheels. It has a top speed north of 300 km/h and gets from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. The Nissan GT-R that Caco tested was also in orange and was made more memorable after a professional driver gave him a ride to remember on the race track.
Ferrari 488 GTB
661 hp. 761 Nm of torque. A top speed of 330 km/h. These numbers are wrapped in a body that Caco would like to lick. The fastest car that he has ever driven on Behind the Wheel is the Ferrari 488 GTB, and it is wrapped in all kinds of gorgeous. With a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine straight from the factories of Maranello, the 488 GTB is a mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive coupe that pushes so hard it can get from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds flat, and imagine this, in the time it takes for your normal car – which is about 10 seconds – the Ferrari is already pushing speeds above 200 km/h. It's ridiculously fast.
