Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the Concept X-Class pickup in Stockholm, Sweden. It previews the Nissan Navara-based production version, which would debut late 2017.
The German automaker said that the Concept X-Class is the first premium pickup to combine the best of two worlds. In order to live up to that description, Mercedes-Benz’s pickup concept comes in two design variants: Stylish Explorer and Powerful Adventurer. The former is designed to present the brand’s luxurious styling while the latter is a traditional, workhorse pickup.
The exterior of the Stylish Explorer is fitted with sharp-looking headlights, a large bumper, and a classic SUV front apron. The brand’s three-pointed star emblem is prominently placed at the pickup’s wide single-bar grille. Moreover, the Concept X-Class Stylish Explorer comes with wide wheel arches and 22-inch light-alloy wheels, which gives the vehicle a towering and superior stance. The rear has a continuous LED strip as seen on the tailgate.

Inside, the Stylish Explorer is integrated with high-quality materials such as brown nubuck leather and white nappa leather. It also has a free-standing high-resolution central display, round aircon vents, and multifunctional touchpad.
On the other hand, the Concept X-Class Powerful Adventurer features classic design traits of a pickup – tough, durable, and off-road ready. As such, this pickup has a more aggressive styling compared to the Stylish Explorer. It also has a dual-bar grille while the bumper is equipped with an electric winch. To further emphasize its toughness, the Powerful Adventurer has an underride guard, wing claddings, matte carbon wheel arches, off-road tires, and a metal hook.

The interior of the Powerful Adventurer has matte carbon elements, metallic brushed surfaces, glossy black nappa leather, and seat side bolsters. Same with the Stylish Explorer, it has a free-standing high-resolution central display, round aircon vents, and multifunctional touchpad.
Mercedes-Benz is mum about the exact power output rating of the X-Class concept. However, the company said that the top-of-the-line model would be powered by a V6 diesel engine mated to a 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive.
As previously reported, the Concept X-Class concept would be based on the Nissan Navara. The primary target for this pickup are Europe, Australia, South Africa, and Latin America. It is too early to tell if or when will Mercedes-Benz Philippines offer this pickup.
