The Peugeot 5008 was once a MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), designed to be a versatile vehicle for a multitude of purposes. Now, the French marque reinvents this model and turned it into a 7-seater SUV.
As a matter of fact, the all-new 5008 is almost unrecognizable if not for its name badge. It’s like seeing your old friend who gained a lot of weight – totally different but with a hint of the past.
Overall, the all-new 5008 has an authoritative demeanor. It has a long, sculpted hood, sharp-looking headlights with LED light assembly, large black bumper, and chrome clad diffuser. The rear, on the other hand, is fitted with distinctive ‘Claw’ taillights and dual chrome-lined exhaust pipes. Adding to the vehicle’s exterior styling is the roof rails and black rear spoiler.
In terms of dimensions, the all-new 5008 SUV is bigger as compared to its predecessor. It has a 2840 mm wheelbase, which makes the total length of the car 110 cm longer than the outgoing 5008. This additional length gives the occupants of the car more legroom for comfort.
Moreover, the 2nd row seats have three separate folding seats, which could be adjusted in variety of ways. Aside from being foldable, the 3rd row seats are removable and this can boost the car’s boot capacity to up to 1060 L. By the way, the body-hugging front passenger seat with multipoint massage system can also be folded to accommodate long loads up to 3220 mm.
In the cabin, the all-new 5008 gets the newest version of Peugeot’s i-Cockpit – the brand’s innovative driver seat design that incorporates the state-of-the-art technology with the whole cockpit. It has a compact steering wheel and a 12.3-inch high resolution digital head up display. It’s also equipped with a large 8-inch touchscreen multifunction head unit with FOCAL Premium Hi-Fi system, Mirror Screen connectivity, and 3D connected navigation system.
Furthermore, it features a wide array of advanced driver assistance systems for a safer ride. This includes Advanced Grip Control, Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC), Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Distance Alert, Active Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA), Driver attention warning, Smart Beam Assistance, Speed sign recognition and speed suggestion, Adaptive cruise control with stop feature (AT variants), Active blind spot monitoring, and Park Assist.
The all-new 5008 will be globally released in 2017 in 5 trim levels, which includes the mainstream Access, Active, and Allure variants, as well as the GT and GT Line trims. It will make its world debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
