Porsche PH launches 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman

PGA Cars, Inc., the official importer and dealer of Porsche vehicles in the Philippines, has launched the 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman. Both models embody Porsche’s design trait, a combination of luxury and sporty appeal. With the Boxster and Cayman’s contrasting similarity, these models could be mistaken as brothers or even twins.

In comparison with the 718 Cayman, the Boxster could be described as the carefree version among the two due to its soft-top/convertible design. Compared to the outgoing models, both cars have a more sculpted fascia, larger cooling intakes, and new bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights. Porsche added that LED headlights with 4-point daytime running lights are available as an option.

Turning at the side, the 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman comes with larger air inlet panels with 2 fins. The rear, on the other hand, have blacked-out LED taillights, a large bumper, and dual exhaust pipes. Both cars also have an accent strip with integrated Porsche badge between the taillights.

The interior of the 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman looks similar to their predecessor. However, both vehicles have a refreshed instrumental panel and a new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) unit. The PCM includes a new 7-inch multi-touchscreen, Apple CarPlay (optional), CD/DVD functions, and 2 SD card readers. The company added that the sport steering wheel found in the 918 Spyder has been added to the cabin.

Power-wise, the 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman are powered by a 4-cylinder mid-mounted flat engines. The 718 Boxster is equipped with a 2.0L engine that delivers 300 hp and 380 Nm of torque (100 Nm more as compared to its predecessor) while the 718 Boxster S is powered by a 2.5L that generates 350 hp and 420 Nm (60 Nm more). The 718 Cayman and the 718 Cayman S have the same engine options and power outputs. All of the 718s are mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

In addition, the 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds while the 718 Boxster S and the 718 Cayman S can do it in 4.2 seconds.
