About MINI Philippines
Originally designed as a car model in 1959, the MINI was the brainchild of the British Motor Company (BMC). Purposely-built to be small, simple, light, and agile, the first MINI (MINI Mark 1) stole the show and went on to become an automotive icon. Representing pop culture, the MINI soon became a brand of its own in 1969.
In the midst of its illustrious evolution, racing teams realised its potential to be a formidable racing machine. With a passion for competition, auto racing enthusiast John Cooper sought approval from the BMC to come up with the brand’s eventual flagship, the MINI Cooper.
MINI is now under the BMW management and has since then made rounds in the global motoring industry as a free-spirited automaker, manufacturing one of the most fun-oriented cars the world has ever seen, including here in the Philippines.
Under the famed Autohub Group, MINI is locally imported and distributed by British United Automobiles Inc.
Front-lining MINI’s fleet is the new MINI Cooper. Dubbed as the “New Original”, the new MINI Cooper was launched mid-2014, leading an army of MINIs like the Paceman, Clubman, Countryman, Coupe, Cabrio, and Roadster – all baring the Cooper badge, all exhibiting the Cooper’s famed “go-kart” handling, and all having the optioned to be extra wicked awesome via the John Cooper Works styling and performance packages.
