Alfa Romeo Stelvio Overview
Thanks to Petromax Enterprise, the Philippine market now has Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo’s newest addition in its vehicle portfolio – the Stelvio crossover SUV. Stelvio is a mountain pass in Italy, known for its twisty roads and tight turns, a huge influence in tuning the Italian midsize crossover. Dubbed as the Italian brand’s first SUV for more than a century now, the new Stelvio is built on the same platform of the Giulia – with a bulkier body and an extended range of turbodiesel and diesel engines. It bears the Italian carmaker’s identity, or what the company calls the genuine “Alfa spirit”, as observed with the Scudetto grille up front. Alfa’s premium midsize crossover combines three ingredients of the Italian brand’s design: proportion, simplicity, and high-quality sculpting. Beyond the design, Alfa Romeo ensured the Stelvio with segment-defying performance. The top-range Quadrifoglio variant clocked a lap time of 7 minutes and 51.7 seconds at the Nürburgring track, making it the fastest production crossover from Alfa Romeo to date. Part of this achievement is thanks to the crossover’s near perfect 50:50 weight distribution, which is responsible for keeping it nimble on corners. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio in the local market is powered by a 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine that’s capable of 210 hp. This mill comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Alfa’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system as its drivetrain.
