Ferrari 488 GTB Overview
The 488 GTB is Ferrari's modern incarnation of the 8-cylinder mid-engined sportscar, introduced as the replacement to the 458. It provides track-level performance that can be enjoyed to the fullest even by non-professional drivers in everyday use. Standing for Gran Turismo Berlinetta, it pays homage to the brand's first-ever mid-engined V8 berlinetta, the 308. It's sculpted with classically clean, pure lines of Ferrari's legendary styling but with design elements that are nods to past models. Interweaving form and function, the 488 GTB's revolutionary aerodynamics, such as the blown spoiler and underbody, allows it to produce 325 kg of downforce. Ferrari also drew extensively on its experience in Formula 1, endurance racing, and XX program to develop the 488 GTB. The 3.9L twin-turbo V8 is rated at 670 hp or a full 100 hp more than the 458. Meanwhile, the 7-speed F1 dual-clutch gearbox with Variable Boost Management optimally distributes the 760 Nm of torque throughout the rev range, eliminating turbo lag. These figures allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds. Despite turbocharging, Ferrari guarantees a signature deep, seductive soundtrack to come out of the 488 GTB. The prancing horse's new machine also employs new dynamic vehicle controls that keeps the 488 GTB flat and stable during complex maneuvers.
