The T6-platform Ford Ranger is now in its second iteration, and it is a stylish and capable midsize pickup truck with plenty of advanced tech features. The Ranger features Ford's latest design language for utility vehicles, as seen on the new C-clamp headlamps and bolder front grille. With an increase in its track and wheelbase, the Ranger now looks wider and more imposing than ever.
Ford Philippines has made several Ranger variants available with two powertrain options to choose from. The first engine is Ford's trusty 2.0-liter Single-Turbo EcoBlue diesel engine, with the second option being the 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo EcoBlue diesel engine. Transmission options include a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic, and 10-speed automatic, depending on the variant.
Inside, the Ranger boasts tech features such as a standard eight-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch or 12-inch SYNC 4A touchscreen. Ford’s Driver Assistance Technology, including a new 360-degree camera, is present on the top-spec Bi-Turbo Wildtrak 4x4 model. Ford has also improved the Ranger’s practicality with an integrated truck bed side step and a new plastic molded bed liner.
Launch
The Next-Gen Ford Ranger made its global debut in the second quarter of 2022. It was launched first in Australia, where it was developed, and in Thailand, where it is produced.
Ford Philippines officially launched the new Ranger on July 28, 2022. It became available in five trim levels and eight distinct variants. The range includes the XL, XLS, XLT, Sport, and Wildtrak. The starting price was set at P1,198,000 for the base XL model.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
The Ford Ranger body-on-frame pickup truck rides on Ford’s T6 platform that is shared with the Everest midsize SUV. The four-door double cab version is the only available body configuration in the Philippines. The Ranger is available in either rear-wheel-drive or with a 4x4 configuration, depending on the variant.
There are two available powertrain options for the local-spec Ford Ranger. The lower-performance engine is a 2.0-liter Single-Turbo EcoBlue diesel engine with 170 hp at 3,500 RPM and 405 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,500 RPM. This power plant shifts with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
The higher-spec motor comes in the form of a 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo EcoBlue diesel engine that delivers 210 hp at 3,750 RPM and 500 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,000 RPM. This engine, along with the 10-speed automatic transmission and an electronic rear-locking differential, is exclusive to the Wildtrak 4x4 model.

Technology Features
Tech has always been among Ford’s biggest focus points with the Ranger. It’s no different in the all-new model, as it’s again poised to lead the pickup truck segment in advanced tech features.
It all begins with the central touchscreen display. Depending on the variant, there’s either a 10.1-inch or 12-inch unit—both equipped with SYNC 4A, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. There’s also an eight-inch digital instrument display for checking real-time driving information at a glance. Six speakers come standard across the range.
The Ford Ranger Sport comes standard with tech features like wireless charging, smart keyless entry with push-button start, single-zone manual temperature control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a windshield-mounted USB port.
Going a step above with the Wildtrak 4x2 will get you a 360-degree camera, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control with rear aircon vents, and two additional USB ports. The Wildtrak 4x4 gets all that plus Ford’s Terrain Management System.
Exterior
The Ford Ranger is tougher and more stylish than ever thanks to an exterior overhaul. The midsize pickup truck sports a reworked front fascia with a bolder grille and new C-clamp headlights, which are either reflectors, multi-reflector LEDs, or matrix LEDs, depending on the trim level.
Ford increased the Ranger’s track and wheelbase by 50 mm each, giving the pickup truck a wider and more aggressive stance. At the rear, the Ranger features a redesigned truck bed that provides even more utility and convenience. There are new integrated side steps sitting behind the rear wheels for easier bed access. There’s also a new plastic molded bed liner for worry-free cargo loading.
Wheel options range from 16-inch steelies on the base model XL to 18-inch alloys for the Sport and Wildtrak variants. The front grille also carries different looks, with the Sport and Wildtrak getting unique painted accents. Models from XLT above get daytime running lights (DRLs) and front fog lamps. The Sport and WIldtrak also feature an easy-lift tailgate.
Interior
Ford has redesigned the Ranger’s cabin with versatility in mind. The interior can fit a variety of needs, whether it’s for family use, city driving, or off-roading. Ford has moved most of the button controls to the central touchscreen, giving the Ranger a much cleaner and more sophisticated interior.
The seats are fabric on the XL, XLT, and XLS, while the Sport and Wildtrak get a mix of leather and synthetic leather with variant-specific styling. Only the Wildtrak models get an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, with the lower models getting 6-way or 4-way manual-adjustable front seats. The Ford Ranger still seats five people maximum.
Safety
The Next-Gen Ford Ranger has made leaps and bounds in terms of safety. It comes standard with six SRS airbags, with the Wildtrak models getting an additional knee airbag. Also standard are ABS with EBD, ISOFIX anchor points, and an engine immobilizer.
Models from the XLS above get hill launch assist, roll-over mitigation, an electronic stability program, and a traction control system. The XLT and Sport models add a rearview camera, while the Wildtrak adds parking sensors. The electric parking brake and electric brake booster are exclusive to the Ranger Wildtrak.
Also new for this generation is Ford's Advanced Driver Assist Technology. It’s exclusive to the top-spec Ranger Wildtrak 4x4, and it includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and a forward collision warning system. It also includes active safety features like auto high beam, lane departure warning, and a lane-keeping system.
Rounding out the safety features list is a blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert and braking, reverse brake assist, and evasive steering assist. Of course, the new 360-degree camera will delight Ranger fans everywhere.

easy to booked an appointment but upon arrival i still have to wait for an hour before the car get serviced though i arrived 30 mins earlier. Also, the maintenance done to the car was discussed to me inside the office and not in front of the car with open hood as i am used to my previous dealership with another car brand. explaining the maintenance done on this way gives me time to inspect and check the quality of work done in the car and point out comments right away thus all concerns are addressed before leaving the casa.
