Omoda E5 2024

The Omoda E5 as well as the Omoda brand and the Omoda 5 made their official launch into the Philippine market at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show. At the time of the launch, prices have yet to be revealed by the automaker although they have confirmed that sales will commence soon afterwards.

The Omoda E5 is offered in one variant and powertrain configuration, featuring a front-mounted electric motor delivering 201 hp and 340 Nm of torque. According to Omoda, this setup propels the crossover from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 7.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 172 km/h. Powering this electric vehicle is a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery sourced from BYD, providing a range of 430 km in the WLTP cycle with a claimed power consumption of 15.5 kWh per 100 km.

In terms of charging capabilities, the E5 is equipped with a three-phase onboard AC charger with a maximum rate of 9.9 kW. It also supports DC fast charging of up to 80 kW, enabling the battery to charge from 30% to 80% state of charge in just 28 minutes. Additionally, the vehicle features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, allowing it to supply up to 3.3 kW of power to electrical appliances and devices.

In terms of features, the Omoda E5 kit includes LED projector headlamps, a powered sunroof, powered tailgate, puddle lamps, selectable drive modes, luxurious leather upholstery available in a stylish blue and grey two-tone or sleek all-black, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control equipped with a PM 2.5 filter and rear vents, dynamic ambient lighting, a sophisticated 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a user-friendly 12.3-inch touchscreen. Audio is delivered through an eight-speaker Sony system.

Styling-wise, the E5 shares a striking resemblance with the Omoda 5 from various angles, except for its frontal appearance. Here, the E5 distinguishes itself with an active grille shutter, dynamically adjusting its opening to regulate motor temperature and meet aerodynamic demands. Departing from the honeycomb pattern, the E5 opts for a sleek, solid grille design, enhancing its futuristic appeal while retaining the essence of its internal combustion counterpart.

The E5 closely mirrors the Omoda 5, measuring 4,420 mm in length and 1,830 mm in width, with a wheelbase of 2,630 mm. Additionally, the E5 provides a ground clearance of 145 mm and a spacious boot volume of 483 liters.
